It’s been a very busy few months for Jil Sander creative director Simone Bellotti. In September, the Italian designer made his debut at the German house, laying the foundations for its future with an ode to minimalism. His sophomore show, presented in Milan in February, was met with huge critical praise, and since then, Bellotti has worked with several brands to help further his vision.

This week, the brand unveiled the latest chapter in its ongoing collaborative series with sportswear giant PUMA: the K-Street shoe. The new style of trainer sees sporting worlds collide, taking inspiration from running and the archival H-street style, as well as karate, which shaped its sole and inspired its name.

Its slim style is a favourite of Bellotti’s: “I like footwear that is streamlined, with the thinnest of soles, embracing the foot with a natural line,” he says. “This is my signature in shoe design.” In keeping with the pillars that Jil Sander is built on, the shoe’s design is minimalist, sleek and functional.

The K-Street comes in two material types and three colourways: perforated suede in matte bronze, beige canvas, and electric blue nylon with contrast suede detailing. While the shoe marks a new chapter for both brands, they have enjoyed a strong relationship for the best part of three decades. PUMA and Jil Sander first came together in 1998 with a collaboration that united sport and fashion in a way previously unseen, breaking new ground for both industries.
